Clinical decisions are made by Dr Aridas, not by software. No AI tool determines your diagnosis, treatment or the timing of your birth. Where an AI tool would be used in your consultation, you will be told beforehand and asked for consent. Declining changes nothing about the care you receive. Anything drafted with the help of a tool is read, corrected and approved by Dr Aridas before it enters your record or is sent to your GP.

Where AI is used

The practice may use AI-assisted tools for the following administrative purposes:

Digital scribe software that drafts consultation notes and letters from the conversation in the room, with your consent
Transcription and dictation of correspondence
Administrative drafting — appointment templates, information sheets and general practice documents
Decision-support tools embedded in accredited clinical software, used as a prompt for the treating doctor and never as a substitute for judgement

Where it is not used

AI is not used to diagnose you, to decide your treatment, to interpret your ultrasound or pathology results, to triage urgent clinical concerns, or to communicate with you as though it were a person. There is no chatbot providing clinical advice on this website.

If a scribe or recording tool is to be used during your appointment, you will be asked first, and your decision recorded. You may decline at the outset or ask for it to be switched off part-way through, for any reason or none. Notes are then written by hand as they always have been.

Your information and where it goes

Tools are selected on the basis that data is processed and stored in Australia, that recordings are not retained beyond what is needed to produce the note, and that your information is not used to train external models. Vendors are bound by the Privacy Act and by contract.

Handling of your information otherwise follows the privacy policy, including the sections on storage, security and hospital record-sharing.

Oversight and review

Every AI-assisted document is reviewed and corrected by Dr Aridas before it is filed or sent. Tools in use are reviewed periodically against current professional guidance, including AHPRA and college advice on the use of AI in clinical practice, and this page is updated when that changes.

Questions or concerns

You are welcome to ask what is being used and why, at any appointment. Concerns can be raised with the practice manager on 03 8400 6193, and follow the complaints process in the privacy policy.
