Parking
A multi-level public car park is on site, entered from Coonil Crescent off Wattletree Road, open 6:00am to 8:00pm. The first 20 minutes are free, with a daily maximum. Height clearance is 2.1m, and pay stations are on levels B1 and B2. Three-minute drop-off bays sit directly outside the main entrance, and accessible bays are marked in all parking areas.
Public transport
Tram route 5 stops at stop 47, Cabrini hospital, directly outside. Malvern station on the Glenferrie Road side is a 10 to 15 minute walk, on the East Pakenham, Cranbourne and Frankston lines.
Access
Step-free entry, lifts to all consulting floors and accessible toilets throughout. Wheelchairs are available at the main entrance and a hearing loop is fitted at main reception. For a bariatric wheelchair, help with bags, or any other requirement, call Cabrini Patient Services on
03 9508 1466 before you come, and tell our reception as well.
Finding the rooms
Consulting suites are in Area E, level 2, reached by lift from the Gandel Wing entrance. That entrance opens 6:00am to 6:00pm Monday to Friday and is closed on weekends and public holidays — at other times use the main entrance, open 6:00am to 8:00pm daily, and take the visitor car park lift.

Special care nursery
Antenatal and gynaecology appointments, operative gynaecology and births all take place on this campus. Cabrini’s maternity unit delivers more than 2,000 babies a year across 24 private rooms, supported by an in-house anaesthetic department, operating theatres, a special care nursery, an intensive care unit and a 24-hour emergency department. Your partner is welcome to stay with you.
Your stay
Four nights after a normal birth or an elective caesarean, and five nights after an emergency caesarean.
Rooms
Every maternity room is private, with a double bed and ensuite, so a partner or support person can stay with you.
Special care nursery
Classified Level 3 under the Victorian system, staffed by paediatricians and nursing staff. Ask me what this means for your pregnancy.
Visiting hours
3:00pm to 8:00pm, with two or three visitors at a time.
Feeding support
Many midwives are trained lactation specialists. Cabrini also runs an outpatient breastfeeding clinic until your baby is six weeks old, and a GP lactation consultant works in the Mother & Baby Centre.
Booking the hospital
I book you in to Cabrini after your first visit — you do not need to arrange it yourself.
Cabrini runs classes and tours of the unit, and publishes its own guides — the links are alongside. If you do not hold private health insurance, ask Cabrini about its self-funded maternity package: the hospital’s charges are separate from mine, and both are set out for you in advance.
