Do I need a referral to be seen?

Yes. A referral from your GP or another specialist is required for a Medicare rebate. You can enquire before you have one, and reception can hold a provisional appointment.

How long will I wait for an appointment?

Routine appointments are usually available within a few weeks. Urgent referrals are offered an appointment within two weeks.

Which hospital will I give birth at?

You choose from the hospitals where Dr Aridas delivers, guided by your pregnancy, your health fund cover and where you live. This is decided early so booking can be arranged.

What will it cost?

Fees are set out on the new patient information page, and a written estimate is provided before any procedure, operation or pregnancy care package.

Can I be seen if I do not have private health insurance?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Self-funded care is possible and costs will be explained in writing beforehand. Care in the public system can also be discussed.

Who covers Dr Aridas when he is on leave?

Cover is arranged with a named colleague and communicated to you in advance. The birth suite always has a specialist available.

Can I bring someone with me?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you are welcome to bring a partner, family member or friend to any appointment. Interpreters can be arranged if you let reception know when booking.

How do I get my results?

Accepted Answer

Results are reviewed and discussed with you, usually at your next appointment. Anything significant is followed up by phone, and a copy goes to your GP.
